The 11th annual Ja- vier Bejar flag lowering ceremony will take place at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, in front of the Reedley Police Depart- ment at 843 G St.
The ceremony honors Bejar, who died Feb. 25, 2010 during a standoff in Minkler. He was the first officer killed in the line of duty in the 100-year history of the Reedley Police Department. Be- jar and Fresno County
Sheriff's homicide de- tective Joel Wahlenma- ier were fatally shot in the incident that began as an attempt to serve a search warrant at a resi- dence in Minkler.
As ordered in the proclamation passed by the Reedley City Coun- cil, the police depart- ment will be lowering the American flag in front of the department to half-mast.
The flag will remain at half-mast until Mon- day, March 1.

Breakdowns by cities/regions through Feb. 23 show 4,057 cases (123 in the past three weeks) in Dinuba, 1,408 in Orosi, 735 in Cutler, 240 in Traver, 57 in the rural area south of Reedley and 21 in the rural area southeast of Orange Cove.
