A tour of VOCO Dental HQ Germany
VOCO Dental Training Day for British
Forces Germany Dental Officers
Maj Mohanad Abu-Mughaisib RADC
Eight Dental Officers based in British Forces Germany (BFG) recently completed a very special kind of training session
at VOCO. The Dental Officers from the dental teams in Paderborn, Gütersloh
and Bielefeld came to Cuxhaven to take a closer look at the products they use on a daily basis.
The aim of the training day was to provide an opportunity for the Dental Officers to update their knowledge in the field of Adhesive Dental Materials and Restorative Dentistry.
The Dental Officers had plenty of questions on the development and manufacture of the products, which
were answered during the course of a comprehensive tour of the various company divisions. Major Mohanad Abu-Mughaisib
BFG Dental Officers together with VOCO course instructors Dr. Matthias Mehring and Dr. Peter Kopecky
and his colleagues not only wanted to know more about the origin of the products, and the work of researchers and developers, but they were also keen to learn more about the application of products created in VOCO’s cutting-edge laboratories.
Our training sessions covered both theoretical and practical aspects of
the products, and were delivered by
two members of the VOCO team: Dr. Matthias Mehring (Dental Knowledge Communication Manager) and Dr. Peter Kopecky (VOCO Science Communication Manager). A range of fascinating subjects included the role played by ORMOCER® in creating a successful and innovative restorative material, and the advantages of glass fibre reinforced composite root posts for the purpose of post endodontic core
Capt David McBride showing that post endodontic treatment requires considerable dexterity
build-ups. This was followed by a practical session where the Dental Officers were given the opportunity of handling and luting the glass fibre reinforced composite root posts and the subsequent core build up process.
Maj Mughaisib and the rest of the BFG Dental Officers were equally impressed with the ‘Rebilda’ post system and the innovative restorative material ‘Admira Fusion’
