‘I’m walking out of Waitrose to the car park. Mum, are you all right?’
‘Yes, I’m fine. Sorry, Emily. I forgot what I was going to ask you. I’ll make a cuppa and think about it. Talk later, bye.’
Emily frowned as she placed her shopping in the boot and sat in her seat. ‘I’ve had a peculiar call from Grandma, and I wonder if she’s all right. I think we’ll pop round before we go home to make sure.’
‘OK, Mum. Whatever,’ smiled Elise, tickling her baby brother.

Alice heard a car on the driveway and peeped through her net curtains to see Elise bounding to the front door. She rushed to open it. ‘Well, what happened?’
‘She didn’t say anything, but she thinks you are going bonkers. Think of something you were going to ask her,’ whispered Elise.
‘Hello, precious,’ cooed Alice, taking Freddie from Emily. ‘Have you been a good boy for Mummy?’
‘I was worried, Mum. You sounded so anxious.’
‘Did I? I’m sorry, darling. I’ve just remembered what I was going to ask you. Do you still want those beige curtains, otherwise I’ll take them to the charity shop,’ said Alice, walking into the lounge.
‘Don’t you dare. They cost you a small fortune. I’ll take them now and hang them in the back bedroom,’ smiled Emily, feeling relieved to see her mum was all right. ‘We must hurry home. I have to cook dinner earlier tonight.’
