‘I overheard Dad talking to Uncle Steve on the phone. From his conversation, I understood the boy is wearing a different jacket; that’s why he hasn’t been spotted. But I know his face and I want to see him so I can capture him on my mobile. If I show it to Mum she might remember him from Nestonbrook and can tell me who he is. Robin had so many friends at school, but I can’t remember any of their names.’
Cara bit her lip and frowned. ‘You will help, won’t you, Grandma?’
Alice took her hand. ‘I understand why you feel the way you do, but we must be careful and allow Uncle Steve to handle it. Why don’t you wait and see if the boy pops up somewhere else and the cameras spot him?’
Cara shrugged and smiled. ‘All right, you always know best. Tell me. Where are we going?’
‘When we get to London, we’ll grab a taxi to the hotel I’ve booked. We can have a long hot bath, a swim or sit in the hot tub. Then we’ll dress up and have a meal in the restaurant. If it isn’t raining we can walk to the theatre. Let’s sit back and enjoy the rest of the journey.’
Cara felt ecstatic. She grinned at Alice and leant back in her seat. She rather guiltily recalled the plans she had already made to go into town one day soon with Olivia, thinking that two pairs of eyes were better than one. Together, we’ll find him, she thought to herself, batting off the sound of Grandma’s warning about the boy ringing in her ears.
