2 TRAINING REGIMENT ARMY AIR CORPS
SSgt (SSI) A Morrow MBE RAPTC
Iofficially took over the reins of 2 (Trg) Regt AAC in December 17 after returning from Ops, and immediately realised I had plenty of projects to be keeping me occupied and by the end of January,
I was deep into PD business and beginning to understand the complexities of running a busy LWC unit. Whilst the main focus of the Regiment is to prepare basic trained recruits for the field army, the CO is an enthusiastic PT lover and enjoys paying regular visits to Bulford ridge to dust the cobwebs of the PS lungs
By the time October had arrived my job had settled down, I had achieved various unit aims and was beginning to become content in my role and was rewarded with Cpl Aylward successfully passing into the RAPTC.
As a female in the RAPTC you can imagine how difficult it is to muster team members to enter various competitions, this is mainly due to us being spread thinly across the country and busy with unit life. This is why I found myself on the RAPTC Cycling team, when by my own admission, not a cyclist (I have only just recovered!)
2 (Trg) Regt AAC entered a female team into the British Army Warrior Fitness (BAWF) league, we managed to come 3rd in the first event losing by 1 second to QMSI Blackburn’s team which hurts me all the more, and then 2nd place in the second event with more to follow.
As November landed I was handing in my final dissertation regaining my evenings and weekends back, much to my families delight. The euphoria continues during the month, and I was delighted to hear that I was to be on the New Year Honours list receiving an MBE for my work whilst in ANAOA. To date this is the most momentous achievement in my life, I have so many of you (you know who you are), who have acted as my friend and mentor to personally thank. As this article goes to press I will be dusting off my No1’s and heading to the palace for my investiture.
