Attaching a Monitor
6. Attaching a Monitor
Once an asset has sensors installed, it requires a monitor before any measurements
can be taken. There are some rules about attaching monitors to assets:
• Each asset can have multiple monitors, but each monitoring technology can only be
connected once. For example, if an asset has BUS PD and EV monitoring, then it
could be connected to a single GuardII monitor with BUS PD and EV, or it could be
monitored by a BusTracII and an EVTracII. But, it could not be attached to a
BusTracII, an EVTracII and a GuardII.
• A GuardII system cannot monitor multiple assets. For example, if a GuardII has PD
and EV monitoring, it can monitor the PD and EV on a single asset, but it could not
monitor PD on one asset and EV on another.
Note:
Attaching a monitor to an asset requires communicating with that
monitor.
To attach a monitor to an asset, select the asset in the database tree, and then press
the ‘Add New Device’ button on the ribbon or right-click the asset and select ‘Add New
Device’; then select the communication method to connect to the device.
