Configuring a Monitor

              7. Configuring a Monitor

Once a monitor has been attached to an asset, it must be configured before data is
collected. Certain elements of configuration are common to all monitors, but each type of
monitor does have some custom configuration requirements.

                                       Note:
Configuring a monitor requires communicating with that monitor.

To configure a monitor, monitor in the database tree, and then press the ‘Configure’
button on the ribbon or right-click the asset and select ‘Configure’; IAM will automatically
connect to the monitor and display the configuration settings.

The configuration of all monitors has the same basic layout:

                          • The buttons on the ribbon select the operation to perform (such as uploading
settings) or which configuration to do (such as the Modbus configuration). The
available ribbon buttons will vary depending on the specific monitor and monitoring
                              technology being configured.
                          • The work area shows the currently selected configuration; this is where you will make
                              changes to the settings.
