Introduction

              1. Introduction

Iris Application Manager (IAM) is control software for Iris Power LP’s continuous
monitors including GuardII+ Series 4208 Platform (referred to as GuardII+ in the remainder
of this document), GuardII, BusTracII, EVTracII, HydroTracII and SMTracII.
All data in IAM is stored in the Iris Instrumentation Database (IID); this database
                       contains:
                          • The assets being monitored; this includes basic organizational and technical data
                              about each asset
                          • The sensors installed on each asset
                          • The continuous monitors that are connected to each asset

                          • The data that has been downloaded from the monitors
The IID is fully compatible with other Iris applications and products; while a typical use
of IAM would be with (for example) a set of GuardII+ continuous monitors, this database
could also be used in RotorFluxPro to collect flux data with a portable instrument. The
database structure and data are compatible.
IAM provides a single interface for configuring monitors, downloading and viewing data,
as well as database management Most of these functions are built into IAM directly,
although in some cases (i.e., Endwinding Vibration and Shaft Monitoring) the data viewers
are integrated into IAM, and in others (Partial Discharge and magnetic Flux monitoring) IAM
uses external Iris Power LP applications for viewing data.
Each asset in IAM can support up to 4 different monitoring technologies:

                          • Endwinding Vibration monitoring (EV)
                          • Magnetic Flux monitoring
                          • Partial Discharge monitoring (PD)

                          • Shaft Current and Voltage monitoring (SM)
Different continuous monitors have different capabilities and features; for example, the
TracII monitors can only monitor a single technology, while GuardII+ monitors can monitor
                       all of them at once.
                                       Note:
This manual only contains information on the use of IAM; for details
about the various continuous monitors that IAM supports, refer to the
User Manuals for those specific products.
                                       Note:
IAM; does not maintain a live communication connection to any
continuous monitor. Any status reported by IAM is only current as of
                                       the last data download.
