Troubleshooting
7.2.3. SM Terminations
If there is a sudden change in the SM data, use a digital voltmeter to measure the voltage
on the inputs of the SM card:
NOTE:
A sudden drop in ground brush readings or a low voltage measured from
the ground input of the Termination does not necessarily indicate a failure
of the GuardII+ or the Termination; this could indicate a genuine brush
failure.
• The Termination Power output should read 24 Vdc.
• The Current and Voltage inputs should read an RMS voltage between 0-2.5 Vac.
• If the readings are not correct, contact Iris Power LP Technical Support for assistance.
If one of the voltage signals is reporting a ‘clipped’ result, then the signal coming from the
Termination Box is too large.
• Change the voltage selection fuse to an appropriate sensitivity, then change the sensor
sensitivity in IAM and upload the changes.
7.2.4. Alternate Monitor
If a second GuardII+ is available, this can be used for validating that the sensors are
working properly. Run a measurement using the alternate device and compare the results to
the GuardII+.
• If the results are similar, then both devices are likely working properly.
• If the results are significantly different, then there is likely a problem with one of the
devices.
