Troubleshooting
• If no measurements are being saved at all, this indicates either a configuration or a
hardware issue.
In all these cases, there are a few common steps to check the functionality of the SM card.
• Perform a single-shot measurement.
• Check the configuration settings.
• Check the SM signals from the Termination Box.
NOTE:
Before looking further for an SM measurement problem, make sure that
the asset being monitored is running at the time; if the asset isn’t running,
the signal levels will be very low.
If none of these troubleshooting steps produce any indication of the cause of the failures,
contact Iris Power LP Technical Support for assistance; advanced diagnostics (refer to Section
7.1.2) will likely be necessary.
7.2.1. Single-Shot Measurement
Before gathering equipment to check the hardware and signal integrity, open SMView and
try to run a single-shot measurement.
• If the single-shot measurement succeeds but the data is incorrect, there may be a
problem with either the hardware or the configuration.
• If the single-shot measurement succeeds and produces good data, then the basic
configuration of the monitor is correct, and the Archive should include at least one
summary measurement every day from the Periodic Triggers. If there are no Archived
measurements being stored, contact Iris Power LP Technical Support for assistance.
7.2.2. Check Settings
Open IAM and select the asset in question; edit the SM sensors and verify that the sensor
sensitivities match the physical configuration:
• Verify that the current shunt selection is correct.
• Verify that the voltage input sensitivities match the jumper selection in the Termination
Box.
Select the monitor that isn’t saving measurements. Configure the GuardII+ and check the
Line Frequency on the General Settings page described in Section 6.3.1.
Verify that the sensitivity settings for the SM inputs are correct as described in Section
6.2.3.
• If any sensitivities had to be changed, then upload the changes and try to download
more data tomorrow.
