When The Darkness Comes—
Most of us have had to deal with children who are or
who were at some point, afraid of the dark. Like children,
the world is showing an uneasiness and childlike fear of
the pandemic darkness all around us. It’s human nature
to be afraid of the dark.
However, for many of us, darkness doesn’t always
have to mean an absence of light. Darkness can also
represent the unknown, untested and uncharted road
ahead of us. It’s dark because we’ve never traveled this
path before. We don’t know what to expect. We can’t see
what’s around the corner.
But, here’s what I really appreciate the about
darkness. It’s in our darkest moments, that we see God’s
mighty power unleashed. In our darkest moments we are
able to clearly see where we are in God.
We just read in those overwhelming words of trust
that the Lord delivered to us through King Solomon. We
may not know what’s ahead, but we don’t have to be
afraid of the dark. In the dark, is where our emotional
and spiritual strength are confronted and tested.
Someone once said to me, “I really think I’m a
positive person. Just as long as all of my bills are paid,
and I have money in the bank, and people do what I want
them to do, you can’t beat me being positive!”
That’s not a test for a positive outlook and a good
attitude. Anyone can feel strong and happy when they
have no problems or opposition to confront them. But,
you really can’t tell how strong you are until tests and
trials come.
