Bringing the Concept to Life
It is, therefore, not surprising that, in the opinion of many, the UN is the
organization to call when a problem occurs. Whatever happens - be it a conflict,
natural disaster or violation of human rights - the first appeal for help is usually
addressed to the UN. And the number of such appeals is growing rapidly. I
would say that, in our turbulent and unpredictable times, the UN is the
linchpin that holds the world together.
Through the UN - for the first time ever - a new Pax Mondial can be
created. Not Pax Unilateralis but Pax Multilateralis, which serves the interests
of all the countries of our planet and provides the framework for the well-being
and stability of all.
