        Sub-сommission on tariffs supported the


        introduction of a duty on ferrous scrap



               The subcommittee on customs and tariff regulation of the legal commission on economic
        development  and  integration  supported  the  introduction  of  a  duty  on  ferrous  scrap,  the  RF
        Ministry of Economic Development said in a statement. According to the press service of the
                             ministry,  the  Minister  of  Economic  Development  of  the  Russian  Federation
                               Maxim  Reshetnikov  yesterday  held  a  meeting  of  the  subcommittee  on
                                 customs-tariff  and  non-tariff  regulation,  protective  measures  in  foreign
                                   trade  of  the  government  commission  on  economic  development  and
                                    integration.
                                           "The meeting supported the initiative of the Ministry of Industry
                                    and  Trade  of  the  Russian  Federation  to establish the  rate  of  export
                                    customs  duty  on  waste  and  scrap  of  ferrous  metals  at  5%,  but  not
                                      less than 45 euros per 1 ton,"  the message says. "The Ministry of
                                      Economic Development indicated that the measure is being introduced
                                      on a temporary basis due to the threat of a shortage of these products
                                     within the country, as well as due to the rise in prices for scrap metals,
                             and is aimed at providing Russian metallurgical enterprises with the necessary
                             raw materials."

        ERG implements large iron ore project in


        Brazil                    In December this year, the Eurasian Group began commercial production

                           at the Pedra de Ferro mine in the state of Bahia. At the same time, already at
        the first stage, the capacity of the enterprise for the production of high-grade iron ore with an
        iron content of 65% will amount to two million tons per year. After reaching full capacity, the
        mine will  produce 18 million tonnes of ore
        per year.
               The construction of Porto Sul, a deep-
        water  port  complex,  has  also  begun.  The
        initial  stage  of  work  is  aimed  at  building
        the  necessary  infrastructure  and  providing
        access  to  the  site.  At  the  same  time,  400
        direct and 1,200 related jobs will already be
        created.
