US removed VSMPO-Avisma from the sanctions list
The US Department of Commerce has removed the Russian corporation VSMPO-Avisma
from the list of military end users for whom the export of technology is limited. As follows from
the document published by the department, Korporatsiya Vsmpo Avisma OAO was removed
from the list, since this name duplicates another - Korporatsiya VSMPO AVISMA.
It is noted that the company was planned
to be included in the list, but did not do so, as the
review committee decided that it did not meet the
criteria of military end users.
At the end of December, the US Department
of Commerce released a list of Russian and
Chinese companies that it considers "military end
users". This means that they are subject to export
control rules: they need a license to export or re-export certain goods and technologies. The list
includes 41 Russian organizations, including the Ministry of Defense, the Foreign Intelligence
Service, the Rossiya special flight unit, the MiG corporation, the Sukhoi Civil Aircraft JSC, the
Progress spacecraft center, and the Rosatom nuclear weapons complex. Corporation VSMPO-
Avisma PJSC is the world’s largest titanium producer.
The company supplies products to the markets of 50 countries, is deeply integrated into
the global aerospace industry and acts as a supplier, for example, for the American Boeing.
As noted in VSMPO-Avisma, American
sanctions will not affect the production
process in any way, because the company
uses only Russian technologies, mainly its
own developments.
