A CONCERT
FOR THE AGES
Never before in Wellington that an ambassador
organized a concert for diplomatic community,
Members of Parliament, and the public.
I made it a reality when we staged the “Friends for
Good Concert” in the capital in 2020. It featured
myself and some household names in New Zealand as
guest stars; Dr. Shane Reti (National MP and Deputy
Leader of Opposition), Ron Mark (Politician and
former Minister of Defense), Caai Michelle (Kiwi
songstress), and The Brafaks (Indonesian Embassy
quartet). I felt like walking down the memory lane
revisiting my days as singer in Indonesia.
More than 200 invitees showed up to packed the
auditorium and had a wonderful time. They sang and
danced to many songs performed including Mimpi
Sedih/E-Ipo, Poco-Poco, and a Māori song called
Songs from Home.
Friends for Good is definitely a diplomatic concert for
the ages.
