FINAL MEETING WITH CHILDREN
Script
Thank you for coming back to meet with me! I told you when we started
that it was very important to let you know how things went after we met.
When you came to see me you let me know what things I could say to your
parents and what you would like me not to say. So… I met with both of
your parents (either individually or together) and they were very happy to
hear about what you thought and how you felt. I only shared with them
the things that you said I could and the rest I kept private. I spent about
a half an hour with your parents; they were very interested in what you
had to say. At the end, I asked them to choose a couple of bear pictures
(the same ones that you used) that I could show to you about how they
felt about what you wanted them to know. Here are the cards. These are
the ones that mum chose. She said she wanted me to tell you “I feel ….”
This is what she wanted you to know. These are the ones that dad chose.
He wanted me to tell you “I feel…” This is what he wanted you to know.
How did it go after you talked to me? Did your parents keep their
promise of not asking you a lot of (or a bunch of) questions? You probably
remember that I told them that it was important that they did not ask
you lots of questions. Sometimes this is hard for parents.
Your parents are going to try to listen to the things that are important to
you. They are going to try to make a better plan for you. They are still
not doing everything perfectly, but they are trying to do things better.
Is there anything else that you would like to tell me since the last time
we met? If you would like, I will let them know if there is anything
important that you still need them to know. If you would like to share
