Day 28 - Will You Remember?
Scripture:
“Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most
Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through
the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of
God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance
that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty
conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold
unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us
consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not
giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging
one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Hebrews 10:19-25
Reflection:
As we age, our memory tends to fade. We walk into a room and can’t remember
why we’re there. We start out the door and have to make several trips back into
the house because we forgot something. There are even times when we don’t
remember who we are in Christ and that what Christ did for us on Calvary’s cross
has placed us in a place of confidence in Him.
.
As we consider this passage, we are told to remember a few things, a result of
what Jesus did at Calvary. We should remember that we have direct access to the
Father, and we can boldly approach God with not only our “stuff” but with
mouths of praise, honor, and glory. We should remember that we can actually be
in God’s presence.
You may ask why this is important for us to remember as believers. Well, right
about now, as we are approaching the end of the Lenten season (two weeks left),
the end of fasts and denying ourselves, we may find ourselves slacking and
lacking in anticipation of Resurrection. We may become careless in our daily
devotion because it’s almost over. In order to avoid this action, let’s continue to
remember what Christ did at Calvary. Let’s remember that it was His blood that
cleared the way for us to enter the Holy Place. Let’s remember that it was not
our doing, but the faithfulness of Jesus and the blood sacrifice that opened the
way for us. And when we remember, then we can encourage one another in
the faith. We can love each other and help each other to remember. We can
honor and anticipate our time of worship together and view it as an opportunity
to remember Christ. Will you remember?
Prayer:
Dear God, help us to remember.
