Introduction

In November 2019, I submitted a concept paper. Re-ignite learning, where I asked
this governing body to consider the introduction of educational technology into our

school system, underpinned by pedagogy. The milestones identified were: (a)
creation of a vision and strategy, (b) use of teacher leaders and a focus on

professional development and (c) the implementation of a communication and

marketing strategy. With further research, it has become apparent that the scope of
the proposal should be widened, and a more holistic approach needs to be taken.

                                                                                         1
We need to look at our school organisation as a learning ecosystem .

               Background

                                                                             2
Why the change? Although the fourth industrial revolution stimulated the need for a
reset and a changed vision, global education systems have stubbornly not altered

their course. However, with a global pandemic, a crisis, it has forced us to shift our
conceptual scheme, questions our underlying assumptions and make a significant

change in our practice ( Westacott, 2019).

1 A learning ecosystem represents all the tools, technologies, resources, and places where the learning happens across your organization
               (Rustici. 2018).
2 Professor Klaus Schwab from the World Economic Forum coined this phrase to describe the interconnected and embedded world being
created due to rapid technological advancements (Schwab, 2016).
