Dear Grade 12s
You have truly risen above the challenges of this year; stronger and
more beautiful than any Phoenix from the ashes. I have faith that
you will succeed in all your future endeavors. I am immensely proud
of you and will miss you so much.

Dear Matrics
Whatever we thought about this year in January was certainly not
what we finally received.
However, you have gained much: you have learnt how to be resilient
and study on your own; you know how to maintain relationships
with a few close family members and with a wide circle of friends - in
ways you never imagined; you have had time to reflect on who you
are and what exactly you want from next year; you can smile with
your eyes and use your eyebrows to communicate.
Of course, there are regrets and a sense of what was taken from
you, but remember 'Tho' much is taken, much abides', and what you
have become is a solid foundation from which to face the
challenges yet to come.
'God speed* [you] well.'
* Just in case: The noun “speed” (spelled 'spoed' in Old English)
originally meant “success, prosperity, good fortune; profit,
advancement, furtherance,” according to the Oxford English
Dictionary. I wish you all of those.

have imagined.”
