MESSAGES FROM PAST GRADE HEADS
To my babies,
the dear class of 2020!
I cannot believe that you are almost at the
end of your high school journey. Both you
and I were only starting out at Greenside,
when our paths crossed, and my life will
forever be changed because of it.
From the very first day that we met, I knew that you were a special group of
children. Each one of you as you are, magnificent and unique. All just
needing the right amount of love, tenderness, attention and guidance to
grow. I hope that Mr Strauss and I, your other teachers, coaches, and your
caregivers, were able to give you the environment and conditions that you
needed for five years, in order to thrive.
I hope that you can look back on your time at Greenside with fondness and
remember the laughs, silliness, love and lessons. The lessons are the most
important. And if you remember anything that I've ever said to you,
remember this: There is a 'learning moment' in everything. When you lost
that loved one, met someone new, made that mistake, lied to that teacher,
hurt your friend. When your heart broke, when you had an argument with
your parents, joked around in class, failed that test, sat through that boring
LO session or complained about the cold floor during assembly. Speaking
in front of your class, at that desk in detention, on the field or court, on the
stage, when you lost your school shoes and when you missed that bus.
If you are always open to finding the lessons in your life, you will never
regret anything. Being your Grade Head taught me so much about myself. I
learnt to be more sensitive, to not always strive for perfection and value the
process, to read people and situations really well, when to speak up and
when to back down.
