o AMT Values: Integrity, Excellence, Adaptable, Member Focused, Competence
Let’s all be able to tell someone who we are and what we stand for!
• Due to COVID-19 and all the uncertainty and for the safety of all our members the board voted
to cancel the July 13-19 annual meeting in Albuquerque. This was a difficult decision.
• The annual business meeting of AMT will be held via a virtual platform. Delegates will
participate using the platform and be able to cast necessary votes, for example in the Board of
Directors election.
• Awards for both 2019 and 2020 will be given at the National Meeting in Norfolk, VA, July 19-23,
2021.
• The 2022 annual meeting plans are underway, we will be returning to the Western District, city
and hotel as yet undetermined.
• AMT continues to be in solid financial health. Chris Damon and staff continue to work hard at
keeping expenses under control
• Due to the COVID-19 situation the AMT office has been closed – as of this writing we do not
know for how much longer – the staff have adapted and are telecommuting and are keeping
AMT moving forward. Thank you staff for your dedication and professionalism!
AMTIE
• The Board of Trustees of AMTIE voted to dissolve the separate AMTIE corporation and transfer
its functions to AMT.
o This means that the funds from AMTIE have been transferred to the AMT account and
may only be used by AMT in line with the same purposes for which AMTIE formerly
dispensed those phones (that is, scholarships).
o The scholarship committee is appointed and will continue to act with the same
procedures – recommending scholarships.
• AMT Board of Directors accepted the vote of AMTIE and approved the transfer of AMTIE monies
and administration to AMT.
AMT’S mission is a member-led organization of allied health professionals that credentials and supports
its certificants and promotes competence in healthcare delivery. To that end marketing and education
continues to build new and broader relationships. All members should know AMT’s vision and mission
as well as live the AMT values. Be proud of your certification – you have worked tirelessly to achieve
your goals – now go out and make a difference!
I cannot end this without sending a special thank-you to all of our members that have been on the front
line of the COVID-19 pandemic. You are the true heroes. Also, many of you have had hours reduced or
lost jobs due to economic dislocations at hospitals, labs, and doctor’s offices. Many of you have worked
without appropriate PPE. I salute you and I grieve with you. There will be brighter days – together we
will get through this! I look forward to the day when we can gather together and laugh, learn, and hug.
As always it is an honor to serve you.
