P. 62
Ms. Mason claims that she was humiliated and suffered a nervous breakdown and is forever
traumatized because Alexander posted her medical status on the internet.
The case was dismissed on February 18, 2020 because Ms. Mason could not produce factual
evidence to corroborate her claims and was unable to obtain documentary evidence from the
management at Advocate, where the privacy breaches allegedly occurred. Additionally, the credibility
of the accusations was compromised by the fact that there existed an acrimonious personal relationship
between the parties, and that the alleged privacy breaches occurred nearly seven years earlier.
Although the matter was dismissed, Alexander was admonished to be aware of all privacy laws and the
ramifications of violations. Alexander was advised that the case could be reopened if factual evidence is
obtained and submitted to the committee.
FALSIFIED CREDENTIALS / CEASE and DESIST:
1. Ms. Mirsada Reckovic
New York, NY 10022
An image of the RMA(AMT) membership card Reckovic had presented to a prospective
employer, Geisinger, was forwarded to the AMT Office by Geisinger’s Credentialing Department. Upon
review of the card image, the AMT staff was able to determine immediately that the card had been
altered and that Reckovic was not, in fact, a current certificant or member in good standing because she
had failed to maintain her certification as required by the AMT Certification Continuation Program (CCP).
She was officially de-certified as an RMA(AMT) on June 1, 2013.
The membership card she presented to Geisinger indicated that her active RMA(AMT)
certification expires May 31, 2020. The card evidently had been altered.
AMT’s records also reflect that she phoned the AMT Office in September 2016 asking whether she could
just pay fees to renew her certification, but she was advised that she was not eligible and would need to
go through the recertification process in order to become certified again.
Normally AMT would assist members with the process of recertification and reinstating
membership privileges. However, because Reckovic engaged in fraudulent activity by falsifying an AMT
membership card and presenting it to a prospective employer, it is AMT’s standard policy to disqualify
members from future renewal and recertification indefinitely, with a minimum disqualification period of
two years. Legal counsel sent a letter on June 6, 2019, directing Reckovic to cease and desist from
holding herself out to the public, including employers or prospective employers, as being currently
certified as a Registered Medical Assistant, a Registered Phlebotomy Technician (another certification
she had previously held), or any other discipline certified by AMT.
2. Ms. Kisha Y. Elder
Covington, GA, 30016
The AMT Office was contacted on 7/9/2019 by a human resources recruiter at Emory Healthcare,
where Elder was seeking employment as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA). The recruiter was
seeking verification that she was currently certified by AMT. She provided the AMT staff with
documentation that Elder had supplied to Emory Healthcare, namely, an AMT membership card
purportedly issued to Elder indicating that she was a currently certified RMA(AMT) and that her
membership status was active through 12/01/2019.
