• By 1992, the Department described the programs as preparing graduates for careers in the health science area in movement,
sports, aquatics, and dance, as teachers in K through 12, as coaches and corporate fitness
• In 2007, the Department merged with the School of Nursing and formed the School of Nursing, Health & Exercise Science.
Today, the HES Department is growing and offering a minor and a graduate certificate in Health and Wellness. Graduates of the
exercise science program are going into physical and occupational therapy, physician assistant, nursing, kinesiology, and other
health professional programs including medical school.
• Teaching graduates have consistently achieved 94 to 97% PRAXIS scores.
• HES is part of the national Exercise is Medicine initiative.
