♥ In 2012 through 2016 multiple hospital systems sought TCNJ as an academic partner to offer an RN to BSN program on site
in order to increase their number of bachelor’s prepared nurses.
♥ In 2015-2017 a series of Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Novo Nordisk awards provided further integration of
concepts and clinical experiences in population-based health care and physical and nutritional health for children
experiences and further development of academic-practice partnerships with our professional community.
♥ In 2015 the Department of Nursing was recognized as a National League for Nursing Center of Excellence for Creating
Environments That Enhance Student Learning and Professional Development.
♥ In 2016 we were designated as a QSEN Institute Regional Center headed by Dr. Gerry Altmiller, a TCNJ nursing faculty
and a recognized national leader for her expertise in Quality and Safety. In 2020 this Center was changed to the Quality
Safety Innovation Center to expand the work.
♥ In 2019 a Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant was awarded for the first time to Nursing to support those students who
have suffered traumatic acts. The program uses a Trauma Informed Approach. VOCA grant received 1 million dollars to
expand this program for 2 more years.
