Good evening to all and thank you for joining us tonight. My name is
Dr. Sharon Byrne and I am the Chair of the Department of Nursing at the
College of New Jersey. 50 years marks a momentous milestone for the
Department of Nursing. In this time, we have accomplished so much and
with your help tonight, together we can accomplish so much more!
Your support for TCNJ nursing is paramount to the continued excellence
of our program. As you may be aware, nursing professionals are in high
demand and nothing is more important than being able to assist the
profession by preparing well-rounded qualified nurses, especially in the
current healthcare environment. Educating future and current students
that have chosen the discipline, to be caring, high quality evidence-based
practitioners that guide people, communities and populations toward
improved health outcomes is paramount to our mission. TCNJ nursing is
uniquely special to us and hopefully many of you.
We have undergraduate, RN-BSN and graduate tracks that are held in
high regard within Mercer County as well as the surrounding New
Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania areas and beyond. Our graduates
obtain high NCLEX-RN and national certification exam rates with
a 100% pass rate in 2019.
The teacher-scholar model provides an opportunity for students to
participate in faculty research, publish jointly with faculty or
independently in the Quality and Safety Newsletter and in the case
of the graduate students in peer reviewed journals related to their
capstone projects. Students are taught by talented faculty and staff
that deliver high caliber education with state-of-the-art simulation
and clinical experiences.
In closing, on behalf of our department, let me extend our
appreciation to all nursing professionals who step up each and
every day to aid in the comfort and caring of those in need. We
salute the true heroes that you are!

educate the exceptional students who will be our future TCNJ
