I bring greetings on behalf of the School of Nursing, Health, and
Exercise Science. This occasion marks an important landmark
in our school’s history-half a century. It is fitting that our
anniversary comes during the 2020 Year of the Nurse and
Midwife. While the world celebrates nursing’s role in healthcare,
we celebrate our school’s contributions to health-exercise
science, nursing, and public health-both here and abroad. We
also celebrate at a time that we are living in a pandemic and
health care is at the forefront of every aspect of our society.
We were prepared to answer the health needs during these
unprecedented times. We are honored to be part of the strong
TCNJ tradition of teaching excellence. That excellence is due to
the stellar faculty, staff, and students as well as our strong
community partnerships.
Because of the supportive and encouraging faculty and staff,
together, we have advanced nursing and healthcare over the
decades, serving in various roles while making significant
contributions to the profession on a scale from the local to the
global. These contributions continue to improve healthcare and
the lives of so many. Our school-alumni, faculty, staff, students,
and supporters have contributed to health promotion this year, in
ways we could have never imagined.
It’s a privilege for us to come together to celebrate 50 years of
contributions to nursing education. We’re here together because of
a shared belief that nursing is one of the most valuable and
rewarding professions on Earth!
I’m honored to celebrate our rich and always-growing history with
you and look forward to supporting a new generation of leaders
who will continue to shape the future of healthcare and improve the
health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities.
