Rabbi Sharabi
Where else are there Rabbis like this?
Rabbi Mordechai Sharabi, a Rabbi, a Kabbalist, founder and head of
“Nahar Shalom” Yeshiva, during his life was known as (named) “The
Eldest of the Kabbalists” and “Head of the Mechavnim congregation”.
Died in 1983.
His Yeshiva is still today on Shiloh Street. Bechora, Yossi Banai’s
mother, was a religious woman. One day she came to Rabbi Sharabi to
consult with him:
Should she agree that her busy children, who live outside Jerusalem,
will come visit her on Shabbat and desecrate the holy day because of
her. Rabbi Sharabi answered that since her sons do not keep Shabbat
also when they are not visiting her, and since the mitzvah
(commandment) to honor the father and the mother is more important
than the keeping of Shabbat, she should gladly accept their visits.
