David Broza
David Broza (born September 4th 1955) is an Israeli singer, musician and
composer. Broza was born by the name David Simon Burwik Broza in Haifa.
As a teenager he lived in Spain, where his father was an emissary. The
Spanish music and culture influenced his work tremendously. Broza is a
gifted and talented guitarist who plays guitar wondrously. When one hears
his playing, there is a feeling of intimate playing and a connection with his
guitar.
In August 1998, when returning from a concert in Be’er Sheva, David Broza
was injured in a severe car accident. He was rushed to “Kaplan” hospital in
Rechovot, where he was committed for 12 days. After his discharge from the
hospital he remained injured in his left hand’s fingers, the hand with which
he strums the guitar and there was great concern for his career. Eventually,
with enormous power will and endless practice was Broza able to recover and
to continue playing. At the height of his success in the mid eighties, Broza
went to New York and since then he has been dividing his time between
Israel and the US.
Many of Broza’s albums succeeded well, and from them emerged several
known pop and rock songs, most of which were composed by him, such as
“Under the Sky”, “Crying to the Walls” and “It’s All or Nothing”.
Many times Broza performed for residents in times of dire security
circumstances in Israel, such as during the second Lebanese war, when he
performed voluntarily for the residents of the north.
David Broza’s song in this book: ‘Don’t Ask if I Love’.
