Mashina
Mashina is an Israeli all-male rock band, which is considered by many to be
one of the most influential bands that have operated in Israel. The band began
its activity in 1983, and in 1985 its first album was released. From then until
it fell apart in 1995 it released 7 studio albums and one collection album. In
2003 the band returned to operate, and since then has released one concert
album and two additional studio albums.
The band members: Yuval Banay (singing, acoustic guitar), Shlomi Bracha
(guitar), Avner Chodorov (keyboards, saxophone and accordion), Michael
Benson (bass guitar), Iggy Dayan (drums, acoustic guitar).
The name of the band, "Mashina", was chosen when Banay and Bracha asked
their roommate on base, a new immigrant from the Soviet Union, how to say
"a desperation chart" (a chart marking the amount of days left to a certain
event – in which you cross out a number each day) in Russian. He replied –
"Mashina Vremeni" – "A time machine".
Mashina's songs that appear in this book: 'Night Train to Cairo'.
