Matti Caspi

Matti Caspi was born on November 30th 1949 in Kibbutz Chanita in the
upper Galilee. As a child he learned to play piano in a conservatory in
Nahariya, and stood out as a very talented boy from an early age.
In 1974 Caspi released his debut album. The album contained 10 pieces, all
composed by Caspi, and in all of them he also played all the instruments and
performed the background vocals.
Caspi moved to the United States in order to promote his career, and in 1997
he returned to Israel and preformed in a number of concerts. Over the course
of the years Matti Caspi worked a lot with the poet Ehud Manor. Matti Caspi
and Ehud Manor had a deep friendship, and a cooperation which has created
many of the Israeli classics. Also, Caspi cooperated with Shlomo Gronich.
The two put on a joint show called "Behind the sounds", which was
performed for 20 years and can still be seen in the media.
