                               Tislam

Tislam is an influential Israeli all-male rock band that was founded in 1980
by Dani Basan, Izhar Ashdot and Yair Nitzani, and fell apart on October 23rd,
1983. Tislam was founded in the Galei Tzahal (radio station) studios, where
the guitarist, Yizhar Ashdot, worked as a musical editor; and the keyboard
player, Yair Nitzani, as a broadcast technician. The two, who wrote and
played together, wrote in 1979 a protest song for a new artist named Dani
Basan, named ‘Give me Rock 'N Roll’.
Their breakup announcement was accepted with great sadness and tears by
the audience in the club and their fans around Israel. The band went on their
last tour and on October 23rd 1983, after a show in Be'er Sheva, the members
announced that this was their last show.
After Tislam's breakup, all of its members continued to be very active in the
Israeli music industry as producers and as performers. They also continued to
cooperate in many of the productions in which they were involved.
Tislam's song in this book: ‘Give Me Rock 'N Roll’.
