Shinmrit Or
Shimrit Or (virzinsky) (born in 1945) is an Israeli songwriter, daughter of
the famous poet Yaakov Orland.
She was born in Jerusalem and grew up in Jaffa and Haifa. Graduate of “Beit
Tzvi”, the college for preformance arts.
Or’s most well known song is “Haleluiah” that won first place in the
Eurovision in 1979, performed by Gali Attari and the Milk and Honey band.
The song was translated into dozens of languages and was preformed in
many versions.
Or wrote hundreds of songs and won first pizes in song festivals, in children
song festivals, in the “festigal” contests, Pre-Eurovision and the Eurovision.
Furthermore, she was chosen to be “songwriter of the year” of “Yedioth
Ahronot” and won the “kinor david” prize.
