                         The New France

Two things became apparent with the closing of the ballots: one is that the
polls were right all along; the other (is that) we’re witnessing new world
orders in French politics. For the first time, no one from the major parties
moved on to the second round, and one of the people responsible is
Emmanuel Macron. The big winner of the first round, Macron, with about
twenty four percent, arrived at the support rally with his wife. The second
part of the duel is Marine Le Pen. She got more than twenty one percent
yesterday, doubling her power, (and) did it mostly by completely
dominating small cities and during a wave of protests against her, which
continued last night as well. After a night of festivities and sadness, the
race for the second round is already starting this morning. Marine Le Pen
attacks Macron head-on and Macron, he’ll try to avoid (any) noise or
mistakes. According to the polls he’s expected to be the big winner of the
second round, much due to the support he’s getting from other candidates
who just don’t want Le Pen at the Élysée. But despite the estimations and
numbers, if we’ve learned one thing in the past year is that (you) don’t
eulogize these kinds of struggles until (they) finish counting the last of the
votes.
