Brussels the Next Day
Many Belgians never encountered a strange request as this until today, to open (their) bag and
undergo an inspection at the entrance to the metro, mall or train. In Brussels, (they’re) not taking
unnecessary risks today. At least one of the terrorists at the airport, Najim Laachraoui, escaped and
hasn’t been caught yet. In the investigation so far it turns out that two brothers were among the terrorists.
Ibrahim and Khalid el-Bakraoui, and that it was great luck that prevented a worse attack. A taxi driver that
took the three terrorists to the airport told that he picked them up in a small taxi, they had five booby-trapped
suitcases that didn’t fit into the taxi, and so they angrily only took three with them. At twelve PM the city of
Brussels stood still in memory of the thirty one victims. At the Jewish museum in Brussels, where a terror
attack took place that took the lives of four (people) on May two thousand fourteen, employees stood in front
of the commemorative plaque that was placed (there). Though the terror attacks yesterday were turned
towards all of Belgium, [but] the Jews are still a risk group. Brussels now enters a testing time. A test for the
Belgian society, for the residents of Brussels, and mostly a test for security authorities who thus far have not
been able to properly handle the challenges that turned up.
