The Strongest Woman in Netanya

Eighteen years as mayor of Netanya, the strongest woman in local government and now Miriam Feirberg
lists of titles is added the questionable title - suspect of taking a bribe. Four times did she win the elections in
the city that hasn’t stopped growing for a minute. Up until recently she held almost all the credit for the
building boom [lit. momentum] of the city that became the seventh largest in Israel during her time in office.
Now this boom becomes many question marks floating over her head, while the main claim is that she
allegedly took (money) into her own pocket for promoting building projects in the city. Some would say that
Feirberg is Netanya and vice versa. This strong woman listed quite a few achievements over the years,
economic and tourist-related. Feirberg enjoyed the image of the knight of the war on organized crime that
had spread through the city. Now, the police suspect, crime has reared its head in the mayor’s office as well.
