Adrenergic transmission
Adrenergic or sympathomimetic drugs
drugs which imitate or produce the same effects as the stimulation of the sympathetic
nervous system.
Classification of Sympathomimetic:
1. Direct acting sympathomimetics → norepinephrine,
epinephrine, isoproterenol, and dopamine
According to 2. Indirect acting sympathomimetics → Act by causing release
mechanism of of NE from adrenergic neurons

3. Dual effect: → By both direct and indirect effect

Classified 1) Catecholamines → contains the catechol nucleus
