Hypertensive emergency
➢ rare but life-threatening situation [diastolic blood pressure>> than 150 mmHg
(with systolic blood pressure greater than 210 mmHg)
➢ otherwise, healthy person or diastolic greater 130 mmHg in an individual with
preexisting complication, such as encephalopathy, cerebral hemorrhage. Left
ventricular failure, or aortic stenosis.
