Car Rental among others. There are additional businesses and
medical offices along an access road just north of SR 674 and then a sec-
ond shopping center, which houses both Home Depot and Beall’s De-
partment Store as well as General Nutrition, a hair dresser, and nail sa-
lon. Old Castle Restaurant & Beer Barn and Fiore’s are in this mall.
Farther west past I-75 is another strip mall with a McDonald’s, KFC,
Goodwill, Sun Coast Schools Federal Credit Union, and Hillsborough
County Tax Collector’s office. North of the mall is the South County Ser-
vice Center with the Hillsborough County Clerk of Circuit Court office.
The entrance to Kings Point, a gated condominium community, is at the
intersection of SR 674 and Valley Forge. There are two very extensive
clubhouses in Kings Point. There is a theater in the north clubhouse,
which may be patronized by residents of Freedom Plaza. Kings Point has
several golf courses and many recreational facilities similar to those in
Sun City Center. These are not open to the public.
Going north on Pebble Beach, we come to the north campus where the
offices of the Security Patrol, the CA, and the Library are located. Also at
this location, there are the lawn bowling courts, shuffleboard, the out-
door pool, and the Atrium. The Atrium houses many meeting rooms, the
indoor pool, the exercise room, the Little Theater, and several clubs.
South of these buildings, on Cherry Hills is a building which houses the
craft clubs. This building overlooks Swan Lake on which the Cygnet Yacht
Club holds its radio controlled sailing vessel regattas.
A mile or so further north on Pebble Beach is the only private country
club in SCC, Caloosa Golf & Country Club. Caloosa is a private club with
an excellent 18 hole golf course. Caloosa welcomes new members and
fees are quite reasonable. The course is well maintained all year long
and offers a variety of tees to accommodate all levels of golfers. There
are many groups who play on a regular basis and welcome new club
members. There are men’s and women’s leagues that operate all year
long. Social members are treated to a wide variety of social activities in-
cluding bridge, dances, parties, cruises and local trips. For membership
information call Sarah Chambers (419-4090). Abutting Caloosa to the
west is Aston Gardens the fourth retirement community in SCC.
