Fire Emergency Overview
• In the event of a fire alarm at The Plaza, Golfview Terrace (GVT),
Plaza West (PW), or Freedom Plaza Assisted Living (FPAL) / Free-
dom Plaza Memory Care (FPMC), the safest place for residents is
in their apartments.
• Residents need to stay (defend in place) in their apart-
ment with doors closed to avoid smoke or fire intrusion.
• Apartment doors, separation walls between apartments, and com-
mon hallway walls are fire rated for a minimum of 1.5 hours.
• Apartments have full sprinkler and smoke detection coverage,
both monitored by a central system.
• In the event of a fire emergency, the local Fire Marshal will assess
and determine if a floor, wing, or building is to be evacuated. They
will dispatch the necessary emergency personnel and resources to
Freedom Plaza under such a circumstance. Residents will be es-
corted/assisted to safety by emergency personnel.
• At GVT the plan is the same, to shelter in place in your apartment
until emergency personnel arrive. The fire panels at The Plaza,
GVT, and PW are monitored by a certified monitoring agency that
contacts Freedom Plaza first and then the fire department, assum-
ing it is an actual emergency.
• If a situation arises during dining hours, residents are to remain in
the dining area and await further instructions.
• Elevators are not to be used during a fire emergency.
• The audible alarm will be sounded with three (3) consecutive
tones followed by a 15 second delay then a second three (3) con-
secutive tones indicating an ‘all clear.’
