LIGHT AND DARK
A farm lay high upon the mountain crest,
Forever clothed in a generous harvest.
Encircled by forests deep and green,
Where birds sang melodies soft and serene.
The murmur of water flowing below
Brought gentle peace to the village aglow.
Animals rested in barn and field,
Helping the farmer with a faithful yield.
The farmer’s wife prepared their meal,
Grown by hands that tilled with zeal.
The fruits of labor, earned with care,
Taste the sweetest anywhere—
Nourishing body, heart, and soul.
Then the sky cried out in flashing light,
Its eyes ablaze in sudden fright.
It wept and wept in roaring rain,
Till earth grew weak beneath the strain.
The house shook hard under the storm,
Animals stirred in restless alarm.
Birds took flight in hurried fear,
While farmer and family gathered near—
Crying, praying through the night.
At last the sky released its tears,
The clouds withdrew, the blue reappeared.
Stars began to softly gleam,
Like hope returning in a dream.
Morning came with golden sun,
Drying the earth, its work undone.
The farmer stood and looked around—
And on his face, a smile was found.
