KP: How did you come up with the fun and innovative ‘Food Truck’ concept? Whose idea was the name,
‘New Music Food Truck?’ Tell us a little about the development of the show and your vision.
JE: Once the show had its name, it was easy to create elements within the framework of being a food
truck. Stac gets the credit for thinking of the name. Together we laid out its structure and I created the
production elements for each segment. With the name structure and production elements, we're able
to plug in the music…and the show was born. We are constantly thinking of other elements we can
add to the show and someday plan to expand the show to 2 hours.
off once we came up with the name. We were
SE: The New Music Food Truck concept really took
wanting to do a specialty show and at that time, Food Trucks were really starting to take off. So, we
ran with that. Once the name happened, the features inside the show just started popping. ‘Chef's
Choice,’ ‘Weekly Special,’ ‘After Dinner Mint,’ etc. We really could do so much more with the restaurant
theme and maybe we'll add those in down the road.
KP: You recently traveled to Texas Indie Fest, a 4-day independent music festival in Austin, Texas to
broadcast live from the event. How was that experience and which bands/artists were a stand-out for
you?
JE: It was amazing to be surrounded by so many great artists and bands from all over the US! We got
meet bands we've played on the show and get to know them better. Some of the stand-outs for me
were the girls of Tough on Fridays, the women of WEEP, Jamie Lynn Vessels, and The Complaints. But
I did truly enjoy each band we heard and met!
SE: Austin is a serious music town. SO much music
happening there all the time. Texas Indie Fest was a
great chance to go check out some of the great
bands that were being showcased. Jim and I liked
every band and artist we saw, but some of the
standouts have to be Tough on Fridays, Nashville
Non-Profits, The Complaints, and Brent Byrd, just to
name a few.
KP: Every day of the week, your show can be heard
somewhere around the globe. NMFT has been very
successful in establishing itself in syndication with
numerous stations, which has exponentially
expanded your reach. How many stations currently
broadcast the show and how do you identify/procure
potential stations?
JE: We currently have 21 radio stations carrying
#NMFT. They are a mix of commercial, non-
commercial, on-air, and online stations from all over
the globe. We're heard in the US, Canada, UK, Italy,
Scotland, Africa, Columbia, and New Zealand. Each
week, we're heard by over 10,000 listeners. We start
by listening to a radio station to see if #NMFT would
be a good fit, and if so, we approach the station
management. We also get many referrals to stations
to consider. It's a never-ending process as we
continue to grow.
