SE: This is Jim's area of expertise. I follow his lead on the marketing of the program. I believe soon we
will be picked up by more traditional terrestrial radio.
KP: To what do you credit the show’s burgeoning popularity and success?
JE: In addition to great music, our show is uniquely packaged and features top-quality production
elements not found in most other new music programs found online. With our combined experience
and background in traditional terrestrial radio, we are able to package our show in a unique way.
Currently, there is no one else out there doing anything like we do.
SE: Good music sells itself and good music can be found in a lot of different places. Technology has
helped the world evolve and you no longer need terrestrial radio to listen to great music. There are so
many ways to find the things you like online and we are happy to be one of the options out there.
KP: Talk a bit about the process that an artist or band needs to follow in order to be considered for
airplay on NMFT? How can they position their submission for the greatest likelihood to be placed in
rotation?
JE: The process is pretty easy as we have a submission form on our website. We ask the band to send
us a download link or MP3 of their song and their EPK. Once we get the music, we will take a listen to
it and if it's a good song in our format, professionally produced, and radio friendly, it will be played.
We look for more up-tempo songs versus slow ones as well as songs that are in the 2 1/2 to 4-minute
range. Anything over 4 minutes is hard to play as it consumes too much time in the show. For me
personally, music that has a strong beat and a nice groove usually catches my attention.
SE: It starts with a quality recording. Sound quality is always the first thing I notice when listening to
the music we get. Submissions for The New Music Food Truck are easy -- just submit through our site
and we will listen to it. If we like it and feel like the quality is good, we find a spot for it.
KP: Thank you so much for taking the time to talk about New Music Food Truck and what drives it. I want
to congratulate both of you on the entertaining and successful platform you have built over this past
year! In closing, please tell the readers of ION your future plans for the show and share any links where
listeners can find out the latest on NMFT.
JE: Future plans for The New Music Food Truck include expanding it to 2 hours in length, adding more
affiliates, and in the not too distant future, hosting live music festivals bands that are exclusively played
on The New Music Food Truck. You can always find information and updates on NMFT on our socials
like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. We are @newmusicfoodtrk on all platforms. You can listen to
the show and find links to the bands and videos of the music for this week’s show on our website at
