You would think the real Iron Maiden was performing tonight. I could feel the energy among the
metal maniacs while “Doctor Doctor” (UFO song) intro played for the band. I did get a little goose-
bumpy, I must admit (or was it the early throes of malnourishment kicking in?). Then the band
burst onto stage and rocked tune after tune. I felt the excitement that I always get when Iron
Maiden are about to start a concert. And although they played an unusually short set, they still
rocked.
I really liked that The Iron Maidens were playing more “obscure” songs from Maiden‘s repertoire
-- such as the song “The Evil That Men Do,” which had seemingly been dropped from Iron
Maiden‘s set some time ago. Other Maiden tunes played on this night included “Alexander The
Great” from the underrated “Somewhere In Time” album (which apparently has never been
played live by Steve Harris and company…ever), “Still Life” from the “Piece Of Mind” album, and
the instrumental “Losfer Words” from “Powerslave” album. Though those turned out to be some
well-received, well-executed song choices out of those performed by The Iron Maidens on this
night, I was a bit disappointed not hearing my favorite tune, “The Trooper.”
The show lasted about an hour and then disappointingly, they concluded their set. The Iron
Maidens put on an awesome performance and had everyone thoroughly entertained and singing
along the entire night. All in all, it was an incredible and memorable performance filled with expert
musicianship and a tight stage show. The Iron Maidens conducted a “Meet and Greet” afterwards,
and I had considered stopping by, but the throngs of people dissuaded me. Next time, though. I’m
sure there’ll be a next time!
