Pop-punk, punk rock, and a bit of skate punk genre, the Los Angeles-based band The
Allright was formed in the summer of 2009. It was only Johnny (drums/vocals) and Jamey
(bass/vocals) back then, when they started with an impromptu song that was written while
they were watching Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. A few line-up changes happened
through the years until Jeff (guitar/vocals) completed the missing piece of the band.

The band name’s idea originated from Jamey’s Sophomore year high school English
teacher, Mr. Lowdermilk. Jonny shared, “Jamey greeted him before class and his reply was
‘Aye, alright!’ Jamey didn’t know how to spell ‘alright’ and spelled it with two ‘Ls’ -- and that’s
how the band name was born. We figured two ‘Ls’ for a set of twins made sense enough.”

The band’s first show was on December 26, 2013, at The Cobalt (RIP) in Canoga Park,
California. They have been active in the music scene in L.A., and I was fortunate to watch
them perform live quite a few times both in the local L.A. and Fil-Am music scene. Watching
them play live was mind blowing – especially witnessing how deeply they connect with their
crowd! I must say, it’s always a jam-packed night whenever The Allright is included in the
line-up. Everybody has got to see how they are not just “alright,” but, ALLRIGHT!

One of the biggest achievements they’ve accomplished was releasing their debut album “In
Loving Memory,” where they also held a successful vinyl album release show at the Kusina
                  Filipina in L.A. last January 12, 2024.

According to Johnny, “It took over a decade to complete and a lot of growing pains in
between, but the reception at recent shows and its home on the shelves at Cali Vibes
Records has been a reward all its own.”
