Roots containing lectins
Stinging nettle قراص
Botanical origin: the dried roots and rhizomes of L., U. urens L. (Urticaceae).
Constituents:
A large number of compounds of different polarity and belonging to various
chemical classes:
• Lectins
• Terpenes, sterols
• Phenylpropanes
• Lignans
• Coumarins
Uses:
• Symptomatic treatment of lower urinary tract disorders (urinary retention)
resulting from BPH .
• Approved by commission E for prostate complaints.
Contraindications:
• Owing to its effects on androgen and estrogen metabolism, its use during
pregnancy and lactation and in children under the age of 12 years is
contraindicated.
