Disadvantages of theobroma oil
❖ Due to triglyceride content, it suffers from polymorphism (4 forms), Beta crystal (m.p.

34-36C), Beta crystal (m.p. 27C) alpha crystal (m.p. 22C), gamma crystal (m.p. 18
C).
❖ It should be melted slowly over a warm water bath to avoid the formation of an unstable
crystalline form.
❖ Needs a lubrication process.
