    3. Fusion Molding
Fusion Molding involves:

             ❖ Melting the suppository base.
             ❖ Dispersing or dissolving the drug in the melted base.
             ❖ The mixture is removed from the water bath and poured into a suppository mold.
             ❖ Allowing the melt to congeal.
             ❖ Removing the formed suppositories from the mold.
The fusion method can be used with all types of suppositories.

Lubrication of the mold
Lubrication of mold may be needed before the melt is poured to facilitate the removal of the molded
suppositories.
Lubrication is not necessary when the base is polyethylene glycol, as this material contracts
sufficiently on cooling to separate from the inner surfaces and allow easy removal.
