Allyl isothiocyanate
Uses:
1- Externally, acts as a rubefacient and counter- irritant.
2- Internally, mustard is used as a condiment and in large doses as an
emetic.
White mustard seed
Medicinal parts: The dried ripe seeds of Brassica alba, family Crucifera
Constituents:
1-White mustard seeds contain a crystalline glycoside, sinalbin, and the
enzyme myrosin.
2- A fixed oil and mucilage.
3- Under the influence of myrosin in the presence of water it yields acid
sinapine sulphate, glucose, acrinylisothiocyanate.
