1.concentration dependant detectors

• the signal is related to the concentration of solute in the detector
• it does not destroy the sample
•e.g. TCD , ECD , photo ionization detector(PID)

2.Mass flow dependant detector

* the signal is related to the rate at which solute molecules enter the
detector
* it desroy the sample
* FID , nitrogen- phosphorous , flame photometric ( FPD )
