  Photometric method (DPD reagent)

Elemental chlorine, hypochlorous acid and hypochlorite ion

react with N,N-diethyl-1,4-phenylenediamine (DPD) to form a

red colored azo dye. This colored semiquinoid salt is stabilized

by mesomerism
